An alternative to QR Code Generator
QR Code Generator at qr-code-generator.com, now branded QRCG by Bitly, is one of the best-known QR code services. It sells dynamic codes by subscription, with a free trial.
This page sets out what QR Code Generator says about its trials, plans, cancellations and refunds, in its own words where possible, with a link to each source. We've tried to be accurate and fair. If you spot something out of date, please tell us at contact@tps505.com and we'll correct it.
Facts change. Everything below was checked against QR Code Generator's own website in October 2026. Prices and policies may have changed since. Always check qr-code-generator.com before you decide.
What QR Code Generator says

The site's legal notice names Bitly Europe GmbH, of Berlin, Germany, as the operator.

- Free trial
The pricing page offers a "14-day free trial—no credit card needed".

- Does the trial turn into a paid plan?
No. The help centre says: "Your account does not automatically switch to a paid plan once the free trial period ends."

- When the trial ends
The help centre says: "Dynamic QR Codes are deactivated and point to a service page rather than the original destination." Static codes continue to work, and dynamic codes can be reactivated by upgrading.

- After cancelling a paid plan
Dynamic codes keep redirecting until the end of the paid period plus 30 days, without editing. After that, the help centre says "your account is locked and your Dynamic QR Codes redirect to a service page instead of their original destination." Static codes aren't affected.

- Plans and billing
Plans are Starter, Advanced and Professional, plus Enterprise on request. The pricing page says Starter is billed monthly or annually, Advanced and Professional are billed annually, and "All subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel." When we checked, prices were shown in euros excluding VAT, with Starter at €16 a month billed monthly or €8 a month billed annually. No one-time or lifetime option was listed.

- Scan limits
On the Starter plan, the help centre says "each QR Code can be scanned a maximum amount of 10.000 times", after which you need a higher plan to keep the code active.

- Refunds
The cancellation article says "Refunds aren't offered for unused time."

How KeepQR is different
KeepQR makes the same two kinds of code, but sells them differently:
- Static codes are free and need no account. They contain your link directly and work forever.
- Editable codes cost £4.99 once, or £19 for 10, with VAT included. There's no trial and no subscription.
- No scan limits. A busy code works the same as a quiet one.
- Never deactivated for non-payment, because there's no ongoing payment. Codes are only disabled for abuse.
- 14-day refund, no questions asked, and the code keeps working after the refund.
KeepQR does less than the big platforms. There are no landing-page builders, team accounts or detailed analytics, just codes that keep working and simple daily scan counts. If you need those extra features, a subscription service may suit you better. If you just need a code you can print and forget, see how KeepQR works or read our promise.
If you already have codes with QR Code Generator
A dynamic code made with QR Code Generator contains a short link on their domain, and only they can control where it goes. No other provider can take it over. If you want to switch, you'll need to make new codes and replace the printed ones, usually as you reprint. Our guide to fixing a QR code that stopped workingexplains how to do this with the least reprinting.
